Vikrant Massey Says, "No Denying That Nepotism Exists In Our Film Industry"
It has been just 11 days since the release of Mirzapur that Vikrant Massey has another web-series out for the audiences- Broken But Beautiful. The talented actor has been winning accolades for his performance in Mirzapur and now with Broken But Beautiful, the praises are expected to go one notch higher.

SpotboyE.com had a telephonic conversation with Massey yesterday to talk about the two shows, his career graph, nepotism, his upcoming projects and lots more. Excerpts:

How come suddenly web-shows coming out back-to-back within a gap of just 10 days?
(Laughs) Well, I am just an actor and the release dates are not in my hands. It's a mere co-incidence that both of them will be online around the same time.

What is Broken But Beautiful all about?
Broken But Beautiful is not a quintessential love story. It just doesn't talk about the process of how two people fall in love, but also celebrates loss. It's about how two people go through the process of heartbreak, crying, humiliation etc, before they get together.

My character, Veer, is an investment banker. He wants to have a secure future and raise a family. He has gotten hitched at quite a young age to the girl he was in love with. However, things change in his life after a certain incident and then everything turns upside down.

You have always worked in pivotal characters in films and shows, but never played that quintessential Bollywood hero. Don't you aspire to do those?
Can't talk for others, but it has never been my aspiration. My aspiration has always been to be known as one of the best actors. I think stardom isn't something that you can get on your own. It's something that you get from fans. I only believe in working hard. Stardom is something that I haven't tasted, at least not yet. I am not aware of it and I really don’t know what it means. I hope my characters are remembered by people and they rather talk about my performances.

What about nepotism? Have you faced it, you being an outsider?
Nepotism does exist in our film industry. There is no denying that. However, I also believe that there are free and fair opportunities for everyone out here. If there weren't, I wouldn't be talking to you here now.

Have you faced it first hand?
No point in discussing what didn't materialize.

What after Broken But Beautiful?
There are a few projects which are underway. RSVP’s Yaar Jigri with Sunny Singh, Seema Pahwa's directorial debut, Pind Daan, Cargo with Shweta Tripathi, and Alankrita Shrivastava’s Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare.
